What do you like about being an office administrator at SUMC?

Working in the church office allows me to have contact with a variety of people.  Every day is different with new challenges.  Since I have been in this position I have learned about websites, facebook, maintaining office equipment and systems, etc.  I  also enjoy working with our staff and church volunteers.  You never know where you may be called to serve.

What do you like most about  SUMC?

I have been a member at SUMC for over 25 years.  It just feels like my home and the members are family.

What is your favorite Scripture verse?

It's one of the simplest verses "God is love".  I really like to read The Message for everyday understanding.  When you read 1 John 4:17-18 it reads: ^17-18God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ's. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.  When I remember this verse, it puts things in perspective and really helps reduce stress.

What do you like doing outside of SUMC?

I love to read, cook & bake, and flower gardening. I also enjoy nature and traveling to see the wonders that God has created for us!

Tell us about your family?

I have been married to my husband, John, for 26 years.  We have two boys, Mitchell (18) and David (16).  I grew up in this area and have strong family ties to Southwest Michigan.

What are your hobbies?

I love listening to music, reading a good book, trying new recipes, discovering small wonders in nature (wildflowers, lichens, woodland mushroom, etc.) and if I could, I would snorkel everyday with my family in the tropics (Maui)!
